How to Setup Geyser & Floodgate on Minecraft Server for Bedrock Crossplay (2026 Guide)
Want Bedrock players on mobile, Xbox, and PlayStation to join your Java Minecraft server? Here is the complete step-by-step guide to installing GeyserMC and Floodgate with instant crossplay.
What is GeyserMC and Floodgate?
One of the biggest limitations of running a Minecraft Java Edition server is that your friends playing on Android, iOS (iPhone/iPad), Nintendo Switch, Xbox, or PlayStation (Bedrock Edition) cannot natively connect to your server. Minecraft Java uses TCP packets and a completely different networking protocol than Bedrock's UDP-based RakNet.
GeyserMC is a proxy plugin that bridges this gap by translating Bedrock packets into Java packets in real time. Floodgate is its companion plugin that removes the requirement for Bedrock players to own an official Java Edition Mojang/Microsoft account, authenticating them directly through their Xbox Live credentials.
When combined, Bedrock players can join your Minecraft server hosting India instance just like regular Java players, seeing identical blocks, inventories, animations, and custom items.
Prerequisites for Bedrock Crossplay
- A server running Paper, Purpur, or Spigot (Version 1.20.x or 1.21.x recommended).
- At least 4 GB RAM recommended if you anticipate 15+ concurrent crossplay players.
- An assigned UDP port for Bedrock traffic (default
19132or an additional allocated port). On Azion Cloud, additional ports are allocated automatically in your Pterodactyl Network tab.
Step 1: Installing Geyser-Spigot and Floodgate
On Azion Cloud, you do not need to upload JAR files via SFTP manually:
- Navigate to your Azion Cloud Game Panel and select your server.
- Click on Plugins in the left sidebar.
- Search for Geyser-Spigot and click Install.
- Search for Floodgate and click Install.
- Restart your server once to generate the configuration folders in
/plugins/Geyser-Spigot/and/plugins/floodgate/.
Step 2: Configuring Ports in config.yml
Open the file manager in your control panel and navigate to plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml. Find the bedrock: configuration block:
bedrock:
address: 0.0.0.0
port: 19132 # Set this to your allocated Bedrock UDP port
clone-remote-port: false
motd1: "Azion Cloud Crossplay Server"
motd2: "Java & Bedrock Supported!"
Ensure that auth-type: in Geyser's config is set to floodgate:
remote:
address: auto
port: 25565
auth-type: floodgate
Step 3: Connecting from Mobile and Consoles
Once your server restarts, your Bedrock friends can connect using:
- Server Name: Your Server Name
- Server Address: Your server IP or domain (e.g.
play.yourdomain.com) - Port: The Bedrock port configured in step 2 (e.g.
19132or your assigned custom port)
Bedrock players will appear in game with a period prefix by default (e.g. .PlayerName), preventing username collision with existing Java accounts.
